What is the BMW Performance Center Group Event Planner Commission Program?

The BMW Performance Center Group Event Commission Program is a commission program that was designed to incentivize qualified third-party event planners to book Group Events at the BMW Performance Centers in California and South Carolina.

When does this program begin?

The program applies to any groups that are contracted on or after August 1, 2021, but only for events that actually happen (actualized) on or after January 1, 2022.

Who can participate in this program?

Third-party meeting event planners, destination management companies or similar third-party agencies and organizations may participate in this program. The planner must have an event planning designation such as Certified Meeting Professional (CMP), Certified Incentive Specialist (CIS), Certified Incentive Travel Professional (CITP) or other nationally recognized certification. BMW Performance Center reserves the right to exclude any company or individual from this program.

What is the commission rate?

The commission rate is five percent (5%) of the gross contract amount. For clarification purposes, if the total amount of the contract was $10,000, the commission would be $500. This rate of commission has been reviewed and confirmed as ‘fair market value’ by senior executives of the Greater Palm Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau, Board Members of the Society of Incentive Travel Excellence and Meeting Planners International, as well as several senior-level executives who have been selling to the Event Planner market for many years.

Who is not eligible for this program?

In-house corporate event planners or planners who do not have a certification such as those mentioned above are ineligible for this program.

What does a planner need to do to participate in this program?

1. To participate in this program, planners must first apply online at: https://bmwperformancecenter.com/epcprogram.
2. The planner must then wait to receive an email notification from the BMW Performance Center that their application has been approved. Before a contract can be signed with a planner, the planner must submit their IRS Tax Form W-9 to EventLink, the event activation company of the BMW Performance Center (it is the responsibility of the BMW Performance Center sales representative to collect the W-9 from the planner and deliver it to the accounting department of EventLink).

7. How long does it take for the planner to receive an email notification that their application has been approved?

1. In most cases, the planner will receive approval (a registration code) within 24 hours (excluding weekends and holidays) of submitting their application, provided that the application was completed correctly.
2. If the application was not completed correctly, the planner will receive notification from the BMW Performance Center Planner Commission Program Manager with questions or further instructions.
3. Once those matters are resolved, the planner will receive a registration code within 24 hours (excluding weekends and holidays) from the BMW Performance Center and/or its program activation manager.

8. What will a BMW Performance Center sales representative do to ensure the planner receives payment?

1. The sales representative will ensure the planner has registered for the commission program and has received a registration number.
2. The sales representative will ensure the registration code is included on all proposals and contracts.
3. The sales representative will collect the planner’s IRS Tax Form W-9 and send it to the accounting office of EventLink.

How does a planner receive their commission payment?

Commissions will be paid to the planner by EventLink, the BMW Performance Center’s activation agency.

10. When will the planner receive their commission payment?

Commission payments will be issued by EventLink to the planner within 30 days after BMW receives full payment for the event from the client. The client is the entity that signs the contract with the BMW Performance Center.

Where will the commission payment be sent?

1. The commission payment will be issued to planner at the address provided in their original application.
2. If the planner asks for the commission to be sent to a different address, the planner must provide specific instructions to their BMW Performance Center Sales Representative, in writing, via email.
3. The payment instructions for an alternate payment location must include the name of the event, the date of the event, the location of the event (BMW Performance Center East or West) the entity that should receive the payment, the entity’s mailing address, a contact name at the entity, the BMW Performance Center contact person’s email address, telephone number and IRS Tax Form W-9 of the payment recipient.

If a planner has questions about this program, who should they contact?
